Every of you may be ex-members, many will have heard of them
by name, and a few of you may never have come across them before, but it
appears that Online Bingo has finally closed their doors this month.
Currently, we certainly didn’t see this one coming, and the
site’s homepage gives no explanation for the sudden closure. It does, however,
state that fellows can still access their accounts over at Online Bingo.co.uk,
and that this alternate site will be opening a special Online Bingo room to
help moving players feel at home.
Thus, we’re marvelling what happened to this really
successful online betting site… Online Bingo launched in 2011, and was the
first bingo-based Facebook submission to spawn an online website for their
players. All had seemed well, as they recently great their first birthday, and
had also promoted their brand on TV’s Alan Titch marsh show.
Particular in June 2012, they had re-vamped their site on a
major scale, changing from modified software, which offered associates social
networking, the ability to give gifts to friends, and a variety of skill games,
over to open online bingo. The re-design was a shame, as the ‘old’ website
really set them apart from the majority of their players by way of their unique
player helps. You wouldn’t have thought that they’d have gone to the time and
expense of making so many changes if they knew they’d be closing up shop within
a month.
It’s not just Online Bingo.com that’s pulled the plug either,
because their moderately new casino site, Bingo Winners.com, has done a
disappearing act as well. The site states that player accounts have also been
relocated to Online Bingo, and that the usual bonus structure has “changed meaningfully”
as a result. It makes no sense that Online Bingo is now the face of the Online
Bingo sites UK, as this is really a less popular brand, although they do offer
a good range of slots, poker, keno and table games, and of course they are also
powered by Online Bingo.
It’s constantly sad to see sites like Online Bingo last, but
it does raise some thrilling demands about the direction that online bingo is
taking. For example, will new sites always fight to establish themselves in
time, even with heavy advertising? Is it too hard to retain a fan-base which
was initially created via Facebook? Is there too much hope on new bingo sites uk 2019 to provide free bingo over pay-to-play games? We’ll have to wait and see
of course, but in the interim, we hope that our other preferred brands keep
their doors wide open.
